*this weeks featured band of the week is none other than brooklyn's own The Hold Steady. With ties to Minneapolis/St. Paul, The Hold Steady bring personal lyrics and a neo-classic rock element that seemingly everyone can listen and relate to....anyone that is that has spent some time in the bar scene! They just released their fourth album "Stay Positive" earlier this year to rave reviews, calling it their most expansive and creative album to date. The lead singer Craig Finn even took vocal lessons for this one!!! So if that doesn't mean dedication to perfecting your craft I don't know what does. Give 'em a listen you won't be dissapointed.

*cancer bats from toronto are my featured band of the week. ...and judging from the phone calls, easily my most popular featured band thus far. with huge riffs and breakdowns, coupled with that melodic growl that pantera fans with recognize and remember, cancer bats no doubt pummel you right from the first power chord. they have a new album that was released in april of 2008 titled 'hail destroyer' and is being labeled as one of the best hard rock/metal albums of the year. give 'em a listen and find out what the buzz is about.
